But the church is also where the unsaved can be saved, the broken can be healed, the bound can be delivered, and the disciple can be prepared to go out and bring others in.
The church gathers us in, but the harvest sends us out.
There's a generation that never set foot inside a church and raised children in homes where no Bible could be found. And we wonder why this country is in the state it is in.
There's a generation that exposed children to drugs, abuse, exploitation, and brokenness. And we wonder why this country is in the state it is in.
There's a generation that never learned how to love, listen to, or engage people who didn't look like them or come from their community. And we wonder why this country is in the state it is in.
And what state is that, one may ask?
Look around... Pause... And Consider...
Jesus looked at the multitudes and did not respond with hatred, mockery, or indifference. He was moved with compassion because they were weary and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd.
“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” — Matthew 9:37
Although some are called to serve faithfully within the vineyard of the church assisting the pastor - elders, teachers, worship teams, deacons, ushers, intercessors, caregivers, administrators, and others who help strengthen the church - they are still called to evangelize.
Serving inside the church does not remove the responsibility to care about the harvest outside the walls. Some may be assigned to strengthen the church from within, while others may be sent more directly into communities and broken places, but every believer should carry a burden for souls.
The harvest is still plentiful.
And there are still people waiting for someone to care enough to go.
Selah. Pause and consider.
