"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
— Matthew 6:21
Years ago, the children in the church community I was attending needed transportation to attend Sunday School. I was the teacher and Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, so I drove the church van through the Orange and East Orange, New Jersey, neighborhoods to pick them up.
Most of the children had not eaten breakfast, so I picked up groceries and cooked breakfast in the church kitchen every Sunday. Thank God for the mothers of the church who also pitched in to help prepare and serve breakfast. Others also donated toward the meals. The Sunday School Breakfast Program wasn't in the church budget, so I used those donations, along with what God had personally blessed me with, to help fund it.
I'm not looking for applause or recognition because all the glory belongs to God. Whatever I was able to do, I did by His grace. It was because of Jesus. My point is simply this: when we truly love God and care about His Kingdom, we do what we can with what He has entrusted to us so that He is glorified.
If you're a child of God and see a need in the Body of Christ, help meet that need. Ask your pastor and church leaders how you can serve. See something. Do something.
