Selah: Pause and Consider | Truth Without Mercy Is Not Christ©

A child trying to make sense of life, identity, consequences, fear, or shame does'nt need to be pushed further into darkness by the very people who should be covering them in prayer and helping them navigate a society that can be painfully cruel. Even when a parent is grieved, confused, or deeply unsettled by what is happening in their child’s life, the answer cannot be to lock love outside the door.

Some believe pressure and shame will bring change. But human force is not the same as spiritual transformation. It may produce fear that looks like change on the outside, but it cannot produce true change within. What is done to survive pressure is not the same as what the Holy Spirit forms in the heart.

Parents do'nt have to change their belief system in order to love their child. But they may need to let the love of Jesus change how they respond. For love that reflects Christ does not discard, does not harden itself against mercy, and does not confuse rejection with righteousness. Parents are called to love, to pray, to stand, and to trust God with the work only He can do in their child’s heart.

Peace & Blessing!
