SELAH: Why I Believe Jesus Is God the Son©

The other day I shared my 2019 Modulating Tones blog, "Today's Reflection," on Facebook because it had become one of the website's most viewed blogs of the week. Around that time, I also began seeing several reels discussing who people believe Jesus is and that prompted me to write this brief reflection.

Many people believe Jesus was a prophet. Others see Him as a great teacher or simply a remarkable man. I believe Jesus was all of those things and much more. He is also God incarnate. He is the God who robed Himself in flesh and walked among us. One God who has eternally revealed Himself as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Why do I believe this?

Because when I asked Jesus to come into my life, I wasn't asking a prophet, a teacher, or simply a remarkable man to come. I wasn't asking a prophet, teacher or remarkable man to be my Lord and Savior.  I was asking the One who is able to transform, heal, and deliver me, to keep me from falling, and to present me faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.

The reason I believe this is because that is how the Scriptures reveal Him.

John writes, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us" (John 1:1, 14, NKJV).

When the risen Christ appeared to Thomas, he declared, "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28, NKJV). Jesus accepted that confession.

The Apostle Paul reminds us that "in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily" (Colossians 2:9, NKJV).

Whatever your current beliefs about Jesus may be, I encourage you to read—or re-read—the Gospel of John with an open heart. Then read Hebrews 1, where God the Father speaks of the Son and declares, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever..." (Hebrews 1:8, NKJV). Ask God to reveal Himself to you through His Word.
