CONFIRMATION©

(Inspired by the Million Man March of October 1995, I wrote this piece and later framed it as a gift for some of the special men in my life - including my beloved brother, who is now with the Lord, my firstborn nephew, some of the young men in our church, and others. During Black History Month, I revisit this piece as both reflection and affirmation.)

I believe in you, Black Man
In you I have no doubts!

I've witnessed some rise,
And I have seen some fall.
I've spectated some short,
And I have examined some tall.
I've observed some gay,
And I have seen some straight.
And, yes, I do
Still Believe in You,
Black Man.

I've noticed some push,
Seen some patiently wait.
I've heard some talk,
Ummm, but then there's those with that walk.
I've felt some's love,
And been hurt by some's hate.
And, yes, I do,
Still Believe in You,
Black Man.

In your Strength and in your Desires;
In your Tenacity and in your Will;
In your Determination and in your Dreams;
In your Humbleness and, yes, in - too - your Frills.

Yes, I do,
 I do Believe
In you, Black Man. We will achieve
Through you, Black Man,
We are redeemed!

FROM ME:  BLACK WOMAN

Peace & Blessings,
