God’s love is holy.
His truth is freeing.
His ways are higher, and
His Word can be trusted.
According to respected biblical lexicons like BDAG, Thayer’s, and Louw & Nida — all used across Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, and academic institutions — porneia refers to any kind of illicit sexual activity, including adultery, premarital sex, homosexuality, incest, and yes, prostitution.
God's Word warns us repeatedly not because He’s trying to restrict us, but because He loves us. Sexual immorality has real spiritual consequences. It distorts our identity, defiles our body, and wounds our walk with Christ.
Misunderstanding or misteaching these things can unintentionally encourage sin, weaken biblical authority, and confuse younger believers who are still learning to discern truth from error.
Paul also reminded us in 2 Timothy 2:15 to “study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” That includes understanding what Scripture truly says and not just what sounds freeing in the moment.
If you’re unsure what to believe, I lovingly urge you to go straight to the Word, pray for understanding, and seek out trustworthy resources grounded in Scripture. Truth always leads to freedom, but real freedom never abandons holiness.
Let’s pursue both grace and truth in love
