In the third chapter of the Biblical poetry book Ecclesiastes,
Solomon wrote “to everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under
heaven.” The wisest man in history went on to provide a list of opposites that happen
in time ending the list with “a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of
war, and a time of peace.” JESUS told us
to be at peace with one another. “Salt is good, but
if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt
in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” (Mark 9:50). One connotation of “peace” is the absence of
warfare, and I wonder when the time for peace will unfold between Israel and
Hamas and Ukraine and Russia? “When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at
peace with him.” (Proverbs 16:7). Peace also implies wholeness and well-being. I also wonder when the children who are being molested,
abused, and neglected will be able to rest in that type of peace? The “peace”
that offers security and happiness. As
Believers we know that God did not give us all of the answers to this thing
called “life,” but He did give us hope. He gave us JESUS and He, Himself, is our peace.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
Peace & Blessings.
