After having a conversation with someone a couple of weeks ago that for all intensive purposes appeared innocent; having no ill motive except to seek an understanding regarding a confusing matter, I became more convinced then ever at its conclusion that no good thing comes from negative criticism - having nothing to do with critical analysis - even when the criticisms are true. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." (Proverbs 18:21).
Today I encourage you to join me in saying "no more" and praying this prayer to our Father in Heaven:
Merciful God, in the name of Jesus, forgive me for speaking negative words about or to anyone. I repent and ask you to forgive me for constantly pointing out the negative ways and actions of (name the person, ie., your spouse, child, grandchild, brother, sister, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.), and not encouraging them with Godly love nor speaking life into their spirit. Today, I choose to love (name the person) by covering them in prayer and speaking words of life to them and not death. You loved me even though I did not deserve it, and today I choose to love others even those who have wronged me so that You are glorified in my life. Amen.
Keep walking towards the Cross. DON'T GIVE UP!
